De Nederlandse Vereniging voor Groeihormoondeficiëntie en Groeihormoonbehandeling is een patiëntenvereniging voor (ouders van) kinderen en volwassenen die behandeld worden met groeihormoon. Ook familieleden van groeihormoongebruikers of andere geïnteresseerden kunnen informatie inwinnen bij de NVGG.
In 1992 is de vereniging opgericht, op dit moment telt de vereniging ongeveer 200 leden.
Bij de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Groeihormoondeficiëntie en Groeihormoonbehandeling staan de leden, ‘patiënten’, centraal. De activiteiten die de NVGG organiseert en onderneemt zijn dan ook in het belang van de leden.
- Belangenbehartiging van onze leden in o.a. de politiek, bij zorgverleners, farmaceuten en verzekeraars. En via samenwerking met met andere verenigingen en stichtingen zoals Stichting Kind en Groei.
- Lotgenotencontact organiseren voor het uitwisselen van ervaringen. Onder andere via de facebook pagina van NVGG.
- (medische) Informatie verstrekken.
- Organiseren van de jaarlijkse Leden Informatie Dag
- Beantwoorden van uw vragen, waarbij er eventueel een beroep kan worden gedaan op de medische adviesraad.
Het bestuur van de NVGG
De Nederlandse Vereniging voor Groeihormoondeficiëntie en Groeihormoonbehandeling wordt bestuurd door een team van vrijwilligers. Ieder van hen heeft een eigen rol binnen de vereniging. Zij behartigen uw belangen in oa de politiek, bij zorgverleners, farmaceuten en verzekeraars. En werken samen met andere stichtingen en verenigingen. Daarnaast organiseren zij eenmaal per jaar de Leden Informatie Dag.

Stichting Opkikker
We kregen onderstaand bericht van Stichting Opkikker. Kinderen die groeihormoongebruiken komen in aanmerking voor een ‘opkikker’. Mocht u interesse hebben dan kunt u uw kind zelf aanmelden.
Beste ouders,
Stichting Opkikker organiseert sinds 1995 Opkikkerdagen voor gezinnen met een langdurig ziek kind. Even het ziek zijn vergeten en genieten met het hele gezin. Stichting Opkikker organiseert dit jaar voor het eerst een Fantasy themadag die plaats zal vinden in midden Nederland op 9 augustus aanstaande. Kinderen die groeihormoon gebruiken komen hiervoor in aanmerking
Wat kunt u verwachten? De Fantasydag is leuk voor gezinnen met kinderen in de leeftijd 3-12 jaar. De aangemelde gezinnen ontvangen namens Stichting Opkikker meerdere keren bijzondere post en zullen op 9 augustus een geheel verzorgde dag gaan beleven. Deelname is gratis voor u en de stichting zorgt voor drinken, lekker eten, begeleiding en vele leuke activiteiten gedurende deze dag. De Fantasydag zal een gehele dag gaan duren, er is een mogelijkheid om tijdens de dag te rusten. Uw hele gezin is uitgenodigd deel te nemen aan deze bijzondere dag. Broertjes en zusjes zijn op deze dag voor ons net zo bijzonder als het kind dat de aanleiding is van de aanmelding.De Fantasydag heeft als thema het tijdreizen door de diverse fantasy werelden die kinderen aanspreken. Kobus en Toekie en Professor Kleur vormen de hoofdpersonen van deze dag en zijn zullen u en de kinderen meenemen op een fantastisch avontuur. De kinderen worden van te voren al helemaal in de stemming gebracht, hoe…? Dat houden we nog even voor ons zelf…….maar u zult verrast worden.Aan het begin van de Fantasydag wordt u voorgesteld aan uw vrijwilliger. Deze vrijwilliger zal de gehele dag bij uw gezin blijven om te zorgen dat het u aan niets ontbreekt. Hij/zij maakt ook een foto/DVD rapportage van uw gezin welke u 2 a 3 weken na de dag krijgt thuisgezonden en assisteert daar waar nodig.Deze leuke dag wordt afgesloten met een fantastische BBQ.Wij hopen dat u zin heeft in deze bijzondere dag.
Na de aanmelding door het ziekenhuis zullen wij u bellen voor een kort intakegesprek waarin wij graag te weten komen wat de mogelijkheden en onmogelijkheden voor uw gezin zijn en waarin wij zouden kunnen faciliteren tijdens de Fantasydag. De NVGG telt op dit moment ruim 300 leden. Deze mensen zijn er mede verantwoordelijk voor dat de NVGG kan blijven bestaan. Ook u kunt hieraan bijdragen, door ook lid te worden van de vereniging.
